The Costa East of the Costa del Sol covers the 54km stretch of coast running east of Malaga City, and is far less developed than the Costa West of the Costa del Sol. The scenery is more dramatic with 200m cliffs, and holiday rental properties are often more traditional than their Costa West counterparts.
Nerja is the Costa East’s main town, housing many of the East Costa del Sol rental properties and villas. It is on the eastern tip of the Costa del Sol, with 16km of fine sandy beaches, meeting azure blue waters of the Mediterranean. The town is nestled between the foothills of the Sierra Almijara Mountains, where the old Town remains quaint and peaceful in its original design. If you take a Costa del Sol holiday property in Nerja, you must walk to the Balcon de Europa to get your bearings before either enjoying the sailing, scuba diving and windsurfing or marvelling at the Nerja Caves.
Five kilometres inland, in the foothills of the Almijara Mountains, is one of the most beautiful towns in Spain, Frigiliana. It provides an ideal escape in a relaxing setting close to the resorts of the coast.
Competa is a jewel of the Costa del Sol, situated high above sea level with stunning panoramic views of the Costa East, with a fascinating network of tiny cobbled streets and cafes.
Inland from the beaches, the village of Vinuela is an outdoor sporting paradise. Situated by Lake Vinuela, the village offers miles of wonderful footpaths, excellent fishing, and two superb golf courses. A holiday villa here is also only 15 minutes from the beaches of the Costa del Sol, and 90 minutes from the skiing in Sierra Nevada in the winter.
Torre del Mar boasts one of the finest promenades on the entire Costa del Sol, and has developed quickly to provide all the facilities needed on holiday. Torrox is also devoted to tourism, and taking a rental property in Torrox means you do not have to leave the town unless you want to!
There is a massive amount to do on the Costa East. A rental property on the Costa del Sol gives you the freedom to get the balance of sailing, fishing, canoeing, diving, surfing, windsurfing, dolphin and whale watching, walking, shopping, climbing mountain biking and hot air ballooning you desire.
Golfing holidays on the Costa del Sol are also hugely popular, with enough golf courses of every style and difficulty to fill a holiday for any standard of golfer.
However, there is no need to do anything strenuous at all whilst on holiday in a Costal del Sol self catering holiday villa. Sunbathing on one of the world class blue flag beaches or sitting in a café in a timeless Andalucian village never fails to inspire.
Costa East, Costa del Sol has fantastic weather all year round, with annual averages of 18°C, and summer temperatures soaring to over 30°C.
Malaga International Airport (AGP) is the closest airport, and cheap flights to Costa East come from the majority of UK airports.
