However, the smell of fresh sea food will quickly draw you to the magnificent marina, with the beautiful backdrop of the Mediterranean. The Narrow Gorge Railway is a day trip on a romantic little train up to the resorts of Denia, Calpe and Benidorm.

The beaches are blissful in Alicante. Some are wide, busy and will all the facilities for water sports and beach life, others are quiet and secluded, and others have sheer cliffs at the back, and rock outcrops for climbing.

The Parque del Oueste and Parque del Morant and the hugely beautiful Palmeral all have huge areas of indigenous landscape and large leisure areas for walking, mini golf courses, bowls areas, large chess boards, and parks for skateboarding and cycling
