The warmest time of the year in this part of Spain is generally July and August when the average high temperature is 25 degrees centigrade. The coolest month of the year is normally January when the average high is only 8 degrees centigrade but it can drop to as low as zero degrees. Rainfall is fairly evenly spread throughout the year with November the wettest month with an average of 89mm.
Bilbao Airport (BIO) is approximately one hour’s drive from Alava and has flight to and from many domestic and international airports. These include Amsterdam (AMS), Brussels (BRU), Dublin (DUB), Frankfurt (FRA), Geneva (GVA), Lisbon (LIS), London Heathrow (LHW) and Stansted (STN), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) amongst others.
