Places to Visit in Central Serbia

Belgrade’ s White City has some wonderful architecture including the fortress of Kalemegdan and the royal estate in Topcider. The street of Knez Mihailova is where locals meet to gossip and is the main pedestrianized route through the town. Arandjelovac is known for its health-giving mineral water “Knjaz Milos”. There are many spas in this sizeable town as well as an open-air swimming pool. The local park has the greatest outdoor sculpture museum in Europe. The park also hosts concerts, drama and folk dancing performances. The Villa Karadzic, the city museum and the local church should not be missed. Guca is famous for its folklore festival which is held each year in August. Kraljevo is known as the “City of Kings”, three hours drive from Belgrade. Surrounded by mountains it offers pleasant walks, the Vasin Konak House, Sveta Trojica neo-baroque church and the National Museum. The Monastery of Zica is easily recognized with its bright red exterior and is a wonderful place to visit.

Weather in Central Serbia

Central Serbia enjoys hot sunny summers and very cold winters when temperatures are at or below freezing. July and August are the hottest months, reaching an average 26°C (79°F). Central Serbia has rain throughout the year, although July to November are the driest months.

Travel to Central Serbia

The Belgrade Nikola Tesla (BEG) Airport is Serbia’s main airport at Surcin. It is approximately 18km (11 miles) west of Belgrade city centre. Flights to Belgrade from London take 2 hours 40 minutes. There are bus services into the city, or hire a car and drive to your holiday rental in Central Serbia.
