Ferreiras is a fantastically rural village, where tradition still lives on strong. The village is known throughout the Algarve for its restaurants, with people travelling for many miles to dine in the small, rustic establishments, which are known to serve the best regional cuisine in the Algarve. The peri peri chicken and suckling pig dishes are absolutely sublime, and walking past a restaurant without popping in is surprisingly difficult!
A villa in Ferreiras is just a few miles from the beautiful Praia d’Oura, one of the most famous Algarve beaches. Stretching 5km along the coastline, and covered in powder soft, golden sand, Praia d’Oura is a haven for even the fussiest beach lovers, and if you would prefer a little more activity, you can windsurf, parasail, water ski or even take a banana boat ride straight from the beach.
The Salgados Golf Course is located within easy striking distance of a villa in Ferreiras, perfect for those hoping for a quick round in the sun. The family attractions of Zoomarine, with daily dolphin displays, the Splash and Slide water park and the Krazy World theme park mean that you will never have a dull moment during your Ferreiras family holiday either.
The town of Albufeira is so close it would be surprising if you could resist the temptation to explore the Algarve’s most popular town. There is so much to see and do in Albufeira that you can spend many days there without seeing everything, from the cobbled streets of the old town to the party centre along The Strip, the golf courses surrounding the town to the water sports of Albufeira’s golden beaches, there really is something for everyone.
The climate of the Algarve is well documented. There genuinely isn’t a bad time to take a holiday rental in Ferreiras as conditions in summer are gloriously hot, often reaching up to 40˚C in July and August, and winters are amazingly mild, with daily peaks of between 15 and 20˚C in the coldest month, January.
You can reach a holiday rental property in Ferreiras within an hour of leaving Faro International Airport (FAO). Taking a hire car from the airport is advisable, as it will let you really get the most out of your holiday, giving you the freedom to walk in the mountains, visit the famous markets of Loule or simply discover your ideal beach with ease. Finding a cheap flight to Faro Airport will not be hard either, as flights leave from almost every British airport!
