The Maltese island of Gozo is a delightful destination for holidaymakers and there are many wonderful towns and villages to stay at. One such place is the village of Nadur, which sits on the east side of the island. Here visitors will find numerous different places to stay including self catering accommodation, villas and apartments.
Nadur has some fantastic places to explore with lots of hills providing great views and is a great area for hiking and cycling. Nadur also includes the coastal area of San Blas, and Dahlet Qorrot, which are both small coves perfect for snorkelling. The seaside town of Ramla has a sandy bay and is just three minute’s drive from Nadur. Various watersports can be tried in Gozo and Malta including sailing, water skiing, paragliding, wake boarding, jet biking, wind surfing and kayaking. There is plenty on offer here for sports enthusiasts including golf with the Royal Malta Golf Club on Malta. There are a few places to dine here including restaurants and bars near the harbour. Visitors will find some shops too with souvenirs available including a few local arts and crafts. Self catering holidaymakers will be able to purchase items from the grocery store.
Nadur is considered to be Gozo’s second town has some fascinating buildings, not least the 18th century church dedicated to St Peter and St Paul. Kenuna Tower is a landmark of Nadur, which was built as a telegraph link between Gozo and Malta. There is a museum in Nadur too, which is the Kelinu Grima Maritime Museum.
The warmest time of the year to visit Malta is generally July and August when the average high is approximately 32 degrees centigrade. January and February are the coolest months with an average high of 16 degrees centigrade and average lows of 10C. There is very little rainfall in Malta especially in summer. The wettest months are generally November and December with an average of 111mm per month.
Malta International Airport (MLA) is the only airport on the island and receives flights all year round from many cities. Air Malta fly to and from Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Birmingham, Brussels, Catania, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Hamburg, Istanbul, London, Manchester, Milan, Moscow, Munich, Paris, Reggio Calabria, Rome, Sofia, Stuttgart, Tripoli, Vienna and Zürich. Avis, Budget, Dollar Thrifty, Europcar, First Car Rental, Hertz International and Sixt all have desks at the airport for visitors requiring a rental car. Taxis are also available from the airport and will take passengers to any destination in Malta.
Victoria is the capital city of Gozo and offers many more interesting places to visit as well as shops and restaurants. A trip to the Maltese capital city Valetta is well worthwhile as there are many historic buildings, palaces, churches, museums and galleries here. Visitors may also like to take a trip to the fishing village St Julian’s Bay on the main island, where there is lots of nightlife and entertainment.
