Watersports such as wind surfing, sailing, water skiing, diving and fishing are available here. The island has two 18-hole golf courses including one on the slopes of Mount Etna. There are plenty of restaurants, trattorias (small restaurants) and bars in the region serving mainly local cuisine. There are many interesting places near to Ragalna. A trip to nearby Mount Etna is highly recommended with numerous coach tours on the island with jeeps taking visitors to the sulphuric peak. Alcantara gorge was formed as a result of an Etna eruption and visitors will see the impressive layers of basalt rock by climbing down the gorge. Just 45 minutes away from Ragalna is the city of Catania where there are some fantastic sights including Greek and Roman architecture. There is also the 11th century cathedral and dozens of other Baroque and historic churches in Catania as well as a fabulous art gallery located in the 13th century castle.
