As with many of the towns and villages dotted around the outskirts of Lake Como, Lenno is the home of some grand old villas that the majority of us can only dream of owning. The finest example in Lenno is Villa Balbianello, which is famous for its lovingly-tendered gardens and for being in several big-budget Hollywood movies. A walk around the gardens is a must, and for a small fee you can also examine the lavish interior of the villa.
Most of the cafes, restaurants and bars in Lenno are located on the promenade, taking full advantage of the spectacular views out over the lake. There are several experiences from a vacation in Lenno that will stay with you forever, and drinking a glass of the local wine on a warm summer evening, whilst admiring the views of the lake, is likely to be one of them. More amenities including a tourist information office can be found in the main square, Piazza XI Febbraio.
A Lenno villa is a perfectly positioned to make the most of trips around Lake Como, and there are many other destinations well worthy of a visit. Bellagio (7km) is one, being a popular tourist spot and one of the jewels in the lake’s crown, and having an abundance of natural and man-made attractions to keep visitors of all ages happy.
Lenno has a mild climate, with temperatures gradually warming up as the months go by, and peaking in July and August at over 30C. The odd shower has to be expected whenever you visit Lake Como, but once this has passed you are usually left with clear skies and some even more spectacular views of the lake.
