Make a holiday rental home or villa in Lazise, Italy your home away from home

The walled town of Lazise sits on the east shore of Lake Garda, 25km from Verona. The town is a prime example of a quaint Italian fishing village that has become a popular tourist destination, as many visitors attempt to find the most traditional Lake Garda town. Although this has meant that more accommodation, bars and restaurants have appeared in Lazise over the last few years, the well-preserved old town means that it is far from spoilt, and Lazise remains one of the most highly recommended options for those visiting the Garda region.

Things to do in Lazise, Italy

Surrounded by ancient town walls, the oldest part of Lazise has retained its medieval feel and is dominated by a 14th Century castle. One of the best preserved examples of its type in the Garda area, the castle is situated in the Villa Bernini Park, and the best part of a day can be spent in and around the old building, incorporating a picnic in the grounds for lunch. Other notable sights in the area include the 13th Century San Zeno and the 12th century San Nicolo churches.

The small port area is always bustling with a mix of locals and tourists, and is a great place for relaxing with the hot or cold drink of your choice and watching people go about their everyday business. Fishing was once the most important industry in the town, and although this role has since been taken over by tourism, the continuing activity around the port shows fishing is still very much alive and kicking. Many of the best cafes, resultants and shops can be also found in this part of town

La Pergolana, a small village just 1km north of Lazise, is the host of one of Italy’s oldest and most famous honey festivals, which takes place every year during October. The Lazise municipality also incorporates the districts of Cola and Pacengo, and these frazioni are well worth paying a visit to.
