Griante has a couple of sights of interest to history and architecture lovers. One of these, the Villa la Collina was built in 1899, and has a look-out tower that offers panoramic views out over the lake. Griante has an advantage over some of the other villages around the lake, in that it has a small ferry port, allowing you to take short trips across the water to explore other towns and villages. The part of Griante that lies along the water front is known as Cadenabbia di Griante, and is where you will find most of the amenities, more modern tourist attractions and some of the best health and relaxation options in the region.
Griante is directly opposite the water from Bellagio, one of the most beautiful spots in the entire lakes area. Although it is perfectly possible to enjoy a scenic drive in order to get to this popular tourist town, the best way of visiting Bellagio is by ferry, which provides some excellent photo opportunities as you go. Bellagio has attractions that include numerous shops, restaurants, water front cafes, churches, museums and historical villas, making it one of the most important and widely-visited towns in the region.
Tourists flock to Griante and the Lake Como area between June and September, when daily temperatures are well into the twenties, and can rise above the magical 30C mark on the hottest of summer days. Despite this, a vacation in Griante can still be enjoyed outside of peak season, with April, May and October also good months for a visit.
Griante is 87km from Milan Malpensa (MXP), the largest of the city’s three airports. Budget airline easyJet offer a number of routes to this destination, and cheap prices can be found when booking online and well in advance. The airport has excellent public transport links with the Lake Como area, with shuttle bus, taxi and rail just a few of the options for getting to Griante.
