The city of Carovigno lies just a few kilometres inland from the blissful Adriatic beaches of the Puglia coastline. Carovigno is the last city on Le Murge, the great upland plains of Puglia, giving visitors to Carovigno accommodation a wonderful contrast between the uplands and coastal regions of this beautiful region. The sensational coastline, which consists of beautiful little bays surrounded by lush vegetation and little bay beaches that look untouched by man, is within just a few minutes of a Carovigno villa, giving you the best of all that makes Puglia such a tourist treasure.
Carovigno is not a large city, yet manages to remain a hive of activity. Gastronomy is of huge importance to Carovigno’s inhabitants, and once you have your first traditional meal in one of the Carovigno restaurants, you will immediately see why. There are a great range of restaurants and cafes to choose from, and should you decide to try your hand at cooking Puglian cuisine during your stay, the Tuesday market is a wonderful time to stock up on fresh produce grown locally. Folklore still plays an important role in Carovigno life, and there are a great number of folklore festivals and events throughout the year.
During the summer months, the beaches, which can be reached on foot, by bicycle or by car, are a major attraction. There are a great number of little beaches to choose from, as well as a selection of absolutely charming little fishing villages along the coastline to explore. The stunning marine nature reserve of Torre Guaceto is certainly worthy of note. The park is home to some extraordinary natural features, especially the freshwater systems, and is a haven for walking, cycling and snorkelling. Nature lovers must certainly not miss a trip to Torre Guaceto from Carovigno accommodation. The larger seaside towns offer plenty of opportunities for scuba diving, surfing, sailing, deep sea fishing and windsurfing.
Family holidays are fantastically fun from self catering Carovigno villas. The entertainment options are limitless, with water parks, golf courses, tennis courts and even a Zoo Safari in close proximity.
The coastal resort of Specchiolla is just 5km from a holiday rental apartment in Carovigno centre, and is a perfect place to relax in the summer sun. However, with so many glorious little bays and beaches to discover all along the coastline, you choices for beaches are unlimited.
The towns of Puglia must be investigated. The incredible ‘white city’ of Ostuni is just 10 minutes from a Carovigno property rental, and the astonishing roman and baroque architecture of Lecce is very easily reached too. With so many ancient castles and traditional trulli of note in the region, local sightseeing tours can last forever!
Brindisi Airport (BDS) is within 20km of any holiday rental accommodation in Carovigno. There are not a great range of direct flights arriving direct from the UK, although Ryanair do provide cheap flights to Brindisi from London Stansted (STN). Having the use of a hire car during your stay in a Carovigno villa is strongly recommended, giving you the freedom to explore the whole of Puglia, from the charming traditional trulli villages to the beautiful bays and beaches of the coastline.
