Up until 1970, Kapelle did not exist as it is now known, and was created then in a reorganization of municipalities. It offers tourists plenty to see and do with a marina, a selection of sporting facilities and several campsites. The excellent climate makes Kapelle a natural tourist magnet. With temperatures averaging 20°C in summer and staying well above freezing in winter, those making their way to this Dutch municipality will probably have no need for sunscreen or layers of anoraks. Accommodation for visitors to Kapelle comes in a variety of forms with huge farmhouses big enough to accommodate 30, smaller holiday homes with 3-5 bedrooms and luxury villas equipped with saunas and WiFi being among the prominent options.
Kapelle offers holidaymakers an interesting contrast in terms of ways to spend their time. The beautiful countryside invites them to lace up their boots and walk up and down the vast terrain of nature parks and fruit plantations. Those who would rather take on the trails on two wheels will find many places from which to hire a bike. When night falls they can put up in any one of the many well-maintained campsites in this area. The local marina makes for sumptuous viewing, especially in summer when the sun shines against the yachts and sailing boats at the harbour. For diving enthusiasts there is scuba diving offered here, and there are also boats and yachts available for hire. Swimming at the Wemeldinge Beach or simply lounging on its soft sands or taking a stroll on the edge of the waters is the perfect way for visitors to relax. Another way to while away the day is to amble through the streets of the town surveying the buildings and browsing through the shops. The Church of Wemeldinge is beautifully built as is the De Kerk van Schore.
At the Orchard Museum on Annie MG Schmidt Road visitors will have the opportunity to soak up on Dutch history and culture.
The weather in this town, as previously mentioned, is mild and conducive for outdoor activity. Summer temperatures hover between 24 and 15°C so while visitors looking for a tan might be disappointed, they will still be able to engage in many outdoor activities. Winters are also not extreme and temperatures remain a manageable 2°C on the coldest months. The most rainfall usually happens in winter though August does see quite a number of rainy days as well.
Visitors looking to make Kapelle their holiday destination need to book a flight to the Woensdrecht Airport in the city of Bergen Op Zoom. It lies roughly 20 miles from Kapelle, making it easy for travellers to get to their place of accommodation by road. For this they can simply get a taxi or hire a car at any of the many car rentals at the airport.
