Holidaymakers looking for a vacation on a hot sunny island may like to try Lourdata on the Greek island of Kefalonia. Located west of the Greek mainland in the Ionian Sea, this beautiful resort has many interesting things for holidaymakers to do. Located on the south coast of Kefalonia, Lourdata has both sand and pebble beaches, where holidaymakers can relax and soak up the sun. With many wonderful views to enjoy on the island, there are also plenty of places to go hiking and cycling through the beaches and nearby villages. As well as swimming in the sea, there are a few water sports available such as diving, snorkelling, fishing, wind surfing, kitesurfing, water skiing and paddle boating. There are some lovely taverns and restaurants in and around Lourdata, which serve delicious traditional Greek fare. Whilst taking a vacation in Lourdata holidaymakers will be able to visit some amazing places. For example there are some excellent museums on the island such as Archaeological Museum of Argostoli, which is less than half an hour’s drive from Lourdata. Argostoli is a charming place to wander around and features many fabulous church buildings. On the road south from Argostoli is the ruined castle of Kastro where there are some wonderful views to be had from the ramparts. Zakynthos is just off the south coast of the island and from here holidaymakers can take a small boat to ‘pirates’ cove’ and the Blue Caves.
The warmest time of the year to visit the island is July and August when the average high is approximately 30 degrees centigrade. Between June and August there is very little rain on the Kefalonia, whereas December sees an average of 186mm rainfall. As well as being the wettest months, December and January are also the coolest with the average minimum temperatures around 5 to 7 degrees centigrade.
Holidaymakers can fly to Kefalonia International Airport (EFL), which is approximately 30 minute’s drive from Lourdata. Flights arrive at Kefalonia from Athens (ATH) all year round as well as seasonally from Amsterdam (AMS), Birmingham (BHX), Dublin (DUB), London-Gatwick (LGW), Manchester (MAN), Milan-Malpensa (MXP), Vienna (VIE) and Zurich (ZRH) as well as some other British airports.
