Holidaymakers looking for beautiful place to stay in the south of Germany should try the Lindau area. Located in Bavaria, this lovely area will provide holidaymakers with plenty of things to see and do. Holidaymakers staying in the Lindau area can enjoy the many amazing scenery offered by the Allgaeu region by hiking, cycling and horse riding. Lindau has great tourist attractions including churches and the cathedral as well as the port entrance with its lighthouse and Bavarian lion sculpture. Just across the border in Austria is Bregenz, which is just a 15 minute drive from Lindau. Here tourists can visit Martins Tower, St Gallus Church and the Art House amongst other sites. The city of Munich is just under two hour’s drive from Lindau and features many galleries, museums, Bavarian castles, religious buildings and the Englischer Garten, which is the largest urban park in Germany.
The warmest time to visit the south of Germany is July when the maximum high temperature is 23 degrees centigrade, although June and August are also warm months. The temperature in December, January and February is cold enough to encourage substantial snowfall. Ironically the higher temperatures encourage the most rainfall in the region with July having an average of eight rainy days per month.
Memmingen Airport (FMM) is approximately one hour’s drive from Lindau. Ryanair operate flights to here from Brussels-South Charleroi (CRL), Dublin (DUB), London-Stansted (STN), Manchester (MAN), Rome-Ciampino (CIA), Stockholm-Skavsta (NYO) and Valencia (VLC) amongst others. Europcar, Hertz and Sixt are car rental firms located at the airport. In addition to this the train station is located in Memmingen city centre and is just four kilometres from the airport. It is an intersection point for the two long distance lines Dortmund-Ulm-Memmingen-Oberstdorf and Munich-Augsburg-Memmingen-Lindau/Bregenz-Zurich.
