Trausse is a village with medieval origins located near the Black Mountains in the Aude department of France. The rural setting of this quiet, traditional village is a big draw card for those people looking to take a vacation away from the traditional tourist hotspots. Accommodation comes in the form of a holiday rental house in Trausse, which comes well decorated, furnished and equipped, making it seem like a home away from home. Whether spending time in the grounds relaxing, or visiting some of the local attractions, a holiday in Trausse will be a most enjoyable one, and will leave you wanting to come back for more.
There are many activities that you can spend your time doing during a holiday in Trausse, from the less energetic ones such as walking, through to more extreme ones such as mountain biking. There is a leisure lake nearby which has a beach area and even a lifeguard during the summer months, and the coast is less than a half hour’s drive away. Here, you can windsurf, sail or simply drop a line in the waters and try your hand at fishing.
If you have access to a car, and it is highly recommended that you do, you can visit many interesting places whilst on holiday in Trausse. Ten minutes away is the village of Minerve which is worth a couple of hours strolling around, and you can also continue driving through a spectacular gorge. The mediaeval town of Carcassonne is less than a half hour’s drive away, and its centuries’ old fortifications and buildings look just as spectacular today as they did hundreds of years ago. Other suggestions of things to do or places to visit include going on a vineyard tour, visiting some of the local caves, discovering some of the Neolithic standing stones, and perhaps even driving as far as the Pyrenees to explore the mountain areas.
The south of France has notably better weather than the UK at similar times of year, which is of course one of the attractions of visiting there! With a Mediterranean climate, you can expect the summers to be warm and the winters to be mild. With day time average highs of 27 degrees Celsius, and rainfall of less than 40mm per month, July and August are the best times to visit, and the most popular. It is possible to rent self catering accommodation in Trausse all the year through, although the coldest time of year is December and January when average day time highs measure 11 degrees, with rainfall just slightly less than 100mm per month.
The two most obvious choices when it comes to travel to your holiday rental house in Trausse are to fly or to drive. Driving is popular with many people from the UK, as it gives the use of the car during the vacation. From the port of Calais, it is over a ten hour journey though. If flying is more your thing, then you should probably consider the regular Ryanair flights between London Stansted (STN) and Carcassonne (CCF).
