Holidaymakers looking for a wonderful vacation in the Rhone-Alpes region of France might like to stay in Tignes le Lac. Located in the Savoie department of eastern France, this is a fantastic destination with many things to see and do. Tignes le Lac is a fabulous holiday destination all year round with over 300 kilometres of piste at Tignes and neighbouring Val d’Isere. Holidaymakers can ski, snowboard, sled and ice skate here. One of quaint villages of the region is Bonneval, which is about 15 kilometres away and features delightful stone houses and a pretty 16th century church. A little further afield is Albertville, where holidaymakers can visit sights such as the Church of Saint John the Baptist and the Place de l’Europe as well as the old Palais de Justice, which features the House of the Olympic Games. Just a short walk from Albertville is Conflans, which is home to the Chateau Rouge and the Museum of Art and History.
The warmest time of the year to visit this part of France is generally July and August when the average daily maximum temperature is approximately 26 degrees centigrade. January is the coldest month with average highs of 6 degrees centigrade, although the temperature can fall below zero with snow fall on the higher ground during winter. The wettest month tends to be September with an average rainfall of 93mm.
Chambery Airport (CMF) is about an hour and 45 minute’s drive from Tignes le Lac and has seasonal flights from London-Gatwick (LGW), Manchester (MAN), Moscow-Domodedovo (DME) and Rotterdam (RTM) amongst other airports. Alternatively Geneva International Airport (GVA) is about two hours and 30 minute’s drive from Tignes le Lac. Easy Jet offer cheap flights from various European airports including Amsterdam (AMS), Berlin-Schonefeld (SXF), Bristol (BRS), Brussels (BRU), Lisbon (LIS), London-Gatwick (LGW), Madrid (MAD), Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) and Stockholm-Arlanda (ARN) amongst others. There are car rental firms represented at both airports.
