Anyone searching for a great holiday in the north of France might like to try the delightful town of Lisieux. Located in the Calvados department of Normandy, this town has many things for holidaymakers to see and do. Lisieux is located near some fantastic Normandy countryside offering great routes for hikers and cyclists to enjoy. The coast is only half an hour’s drive away and holidaymakers can head to some lovely sandy beaches and enjoy a refreshing swim in the sea. The coast offers visitors the chance to try their hand at a spot of fishing and sailing. There are a few golf courses just a short drive from Lisieux including one 30 minutes away at Bernay. Lisieux has some very interesting historic places to visit such as the Basilica of Sainte-Therese de Lisieux, Chateau de Saint-Germain de Livet and Saint Pierre Cathedral. Just a few kilometres away is the village of Cambremer, which is the start of the Normandy Cider Route. Here visitors will also see a fine 12th century church and the beautiful Jardin de Amelle et Jacques Noppe. The Chateau de Crevecoeur is near to Cambremer and is a medieval castle in a pretty garden setting. Le Havre is just an hour away from Lisieux where the famous Musee Malraux is housed. The museum features great works of art by Impressionist painters but the town also has some great modern buildings such as the unusual Volcan where film, theatre and musical performances are held.

January and February are the coolest months with average highs of 9 degrees and lows of 4 degrees centigrade. As well as being one of the coldest months, February is also usually the driest with an average of 49mm of rainfall. December sees the highest level of precipitation with an average of 84mm.
Paris-Orly Airport (ORY) is approximately a two hour and a half hour drive from Lisieux and has flights arriving from numerous international airports. These include Athens (ATH), Barcelona (BCN), Berlin-Tegel (TXL), Lisbon (LIS), London-City (LCY), London-Heathrow (LHW), Madrid (MAD), Rome-Fiumicino (FCO), Vienna (VIE), Washington-Dulles (IAD) and Zurich (ZRH) amongst others. Avis, Europcar, Hertz, National Citer, Peugeot Open Europe, Sixt and TT Car Transit are car rentals firms located at the airport. Alternatively, visitors from the UK can catch a ferry from Portsmouth to Ouistreham or Le Havre and take approximately a one hour drive to Lisieux.
