La-Vraie-Croix is a ‘Village Fleurie’ (village of flowers) in Morbihan, Brittany. Adorned from top to bottom in flowers and perfectly peaceful, a holiday rental home in La-Vraie-Croix is an ideal base for exploration of the Breton countryside on foot, by car or on bicycle.
La-Vraie-Croix is a fantastic place to relax under the Breton sun. With two excellent restaurants, La-Vraie-Croix is a great place to sample the finest of Breton cuisine, and the smattering of bars, crêperies and family bakers mean that there is no reason to leave the village if you don’t feel like travelling.
Beach lovers however will be only too happy to travel a little during the summer months. La-Vraie-Croix accommodation is ideally situated for taking full advantage of the magnificent beaches that line the Gulf of Morbihan. Made world famous for the oyster beds and the seafood restaurants that have sprung up, the Morbihan coast hides a huge number of sandy beaches, lined with fine, golden sands offering excellent bases from which to swim, sail and surf. Sailing is a hugely popular activity, and there are no end of sailing schools and boat hire firms waiting to get you out into the Gulf, floating from island to island.
La-Vraie-Croix is ideally situated for walking and cycling tours of Brittany. The quiet, flat roads are perfect for bicycles, and you do not need to be hugely fit or experienced to gently peddle through the countryside, taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the Vannes region, stopping at small, family run cafes and bakeries for refreshments and taking in the best of the local medieval towns, quaint villages and open countryside.
The historic city of Vannes is within 15 minutes drive of a holiday rental villa in La-Vraie-Croix, and is well worth visiting. Walking around the remarkably well preserved ramparts, or through the timber house lined cobbled streets is an absolute delight, especially if you stop to relax in one of the many atmospheric little cafes to take in the atmosphere.
La-Vraie-Croix is blessed with fantastic weather. During the long summer months, the beaches become hugely alluring as temperatures in July and August often peak over the 30˚C mark. Walking, cycling and touring remains comfortable too, as even during the coldest months, daily temperatures are rarely below 5˚C.
A holiday rental gite in La-Vraie-Croix is fantastically easy to reach from the UK. If you would like to take your own car, which is recommended, there are many car ferries leaving the south coast of England, and if you would prefer not to drive, Ryanair and Flybe both provide cheap flights to Rennes Airport (ZFJ).
