Holidaymakers looking for somewhere scenic to stay in the west of France might like to try Chateau-d’Olonne in the Pays de la Loire region. Chateau-d’Olonne is located conveniently close to many fabulous places of interest and beauty such as the seaside town of Sables-d’Olonne, which is just five kilometres away. Here there are many fine buildings such as the Priory of St Nicholas, the lighthouse and the 17th century Church of Notre Dame. Less than 20 kilometres from Chateau-d’Olonne is the house of the statesman Georges Clemenceau, which is a national monument. The pretty fishing port of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie is also well worth a visit and is about 40 minute’s drive away. Nantes is an hour and 20 minute’s drive away and has many visitor attractions such as the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, the Fine Arts Museum, Jules Verne Museum and the Planetarium. Visitors will also be able to see many other historic buildings in Nantes including the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany.

Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE) is an hour and 20 minute’s drive from Chateau-d'Olonne and has flights from Amsterdam (AMS), Barcelona (BCN), Dublin (DUB), Geneva (GVA), London-Gatwick, (LGW), London-City (LCY), Madrid (MAD), Manchester (MAN) and Milan-Malpensa (MXP) amongst others. Avis, Europcar, Hertz and National/Citer are car rental firms represented at the airport, with service desks located on the esplanade next to the car rental parking lot.
