Calenzana, or Calinzana as it is sometimes spelt, is in Haute Corse. It is about 12km southeast of Calvi at 275 metres above sea level. Unfortunately the old mine at Argentilla has long been closed but walking around the old site is interesting and there is an informative silver mining museum.
Enjoy the Local Beaches
The nearest good beach to your holiday home in Calenzana is Pain de Sucre Beach, about 12 kms away between Calvi and Lumio. It is a small cove with plenty of sand, some rocks and a pleasant beach café.
Ajaccio is the capital of Corsica and its main claim to fame is that is was the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. History buffs can see his home, explore the National Bonaparte Museum and see the caves where he played as a child. The 16th century citadel is an imposing focal point of the town and there is a Renaissance Cathedral.
Nature Reserve of Scandola
The Natural Reserve of Scandola covers almost 2,000 hectares and is a certified protected natural area about 50km southwest of your Calenzana holiday rental. It has caves, grottoes and wild terrain and can best be accessed by boat on a day trip from Calvi or Porto.
The modern town of Porto has some lovely beaches but the main historical point of interest is the 16th century watchtower. It provides magnificent coastal views from its location above the red rock cliffs.
