A commune in the Finistere department of department of Brittany, Audierne is a fishing village that has developed into one of north-west France’s most beautiful yacht ports. Things to do in Audierne, France

The main shopping, eating and dining area is the stretch along the harbour, with a number of bars, shops, cafes and restaurants to choose from. Also on this popular and busy stretch is the tourism office, which has become accustomed to the increasing number of visitors to the Audierne, and can offer plenty of ideas those seeking a more active break.

Saturday morning sees the weekly farmers market, where you can meet the locals, brush up on your French, and buy some fresh and delicious produce to take back with you to your self-catering accommodation. The last remaining fishery in the town has now been transformed into an oyster farm, where you can sample some of these local delicacies, and take some back to cook with, if you so wish.

The majority of visitors to Audierne take short day trip across the water to the Ile de Sein, a tiny island 8km away that almost solely relies on the fishing industry to feed its 500 residents. Here there is a small beach, a museum and a restaurant, but many people go just to walk the 2km length of the island and take in the views.
