The most beautiful area in the whole of Cyprus, Polis is located in the western tip of the island. Polis’ Inland Villages are, in turn, some of the most laid-back, relaxing and beautiful places to take a holiday rental, perfect to escape to for a peaceful holiday in the sun, at any time of year. The Inland Villages of Polis, Cyprus, are the ideal place to explore the authentic culture and traditional, Cypriot way of life.
There is a huge amount to do from a rental villa in Polis’ Inland Villages, especially for walkers. The huge Akamas National Park is a wild and windswept destination, magnificent for peaceful strolls or stimulating 4x4 trails. The whole region is inundated with citrus groves and lined by beautiful, undeveloped beaches, where you can really get a feel for traditional Cyprus. Mountain biking around Sarama and Agiasma are hugely popular too.
The Arkamas Peninsula is steeped in history too, with sleepy monasteries, archaeological finds and ancient temples tucked away between forested flats and rocky bays. Each sight is made even more spectacular by the wealth of mythological legends associated with them, especially those surrounding the legend of Aphrodite’s rising from the sea near Paphos.
Renting accommodation in Polis’ Inland Villages is not only a great idea for exploring the most unspoilt region of Cyprus and enjoying indulging in the traditional Cypriot way of life. It is also a magnificent beach resort in its own right. Lara Beach, which lies just a few miles from a holiday rental in Polis’ Inland Villages, is a beautiful beach, which remains unspoilt and a major breeding ground for loggerhead turtles. Polis beach is a favourite from which to swim, sunbathe or sail.
The quaint village of Kathikas acts as the gateway to the Akamas, and if you plan to visit the Baths of Aphrodite or the peninsula from a holiday rental villa in Polis, you will almost certainly spend some time in Kathikas, which holds both touristy gift shops and magnificent traditional tavernas. Kathikas is also the start of the famous Agiasma Nature Trail.
The Polis beach resort is the most undeveloped beach resort in Cyprus. It has remained its natural beauty and serenity, whilst providing all the facilities you could need whilst staying in a rental villa in Polis.
There is no bad time to take accommodation in Polis. Walkers will have many of the extensive trails which cross the area to themselves during the winter months, when the mild Mediterranean climate brings only few showers and average temperatures around 10?C. During spring and autumn, prices are still low, crowds few and temperatures ideal, whilst in summer (July and August), temperatures soar, making a Polis holiday rental villa with a pool priceless and the beaches a beautiful alternative to the more crowded beaches to the south.
Paphos Airport (PFO) is around 20km from any of the holiday rental accommodation in Polis, and receives direct flights from across the UK, provided by British Airways. From the airport, there are regular busses from the airport, which take you very close to the front door of a Polis holiday rental property. However, it is usually advisable to get a hire car if you are staying in accommodation in Polis Inland Villages, as their remote location means that the transport networks are not regular enough to let you get the most out of your Polis holiday, as it makes reaching remote villages, secluded beaches and the less trodden walking trails that little bit easier.
