Things to do
-Beaches. Pisak offers a mix of pebble, sandy and rocky beaches. The characteristic they all share is the clarity of their waters, which are perfectly calm, shallow and ideal for families with younger children or inexperienced swimmers. The beaches are also backed up by beautiful and rugged scenery, with mountains, untouched forest and few signs of mass tourism.
-Watersports. The Omis Riviera is regarded by many as one of Europe’s best diving destinations, especially if you’re new to the activity. This is down to the warmth and calmness of its waters, and underwater features like caves and historic ruins. Above the surface hiring a boat is also a great way to experience the full beauty of the coast.
-Outdoor recreation. If you’re in search of adventure then there’s plenty to enjoy within a short distance of Pisak – around Makarska and Omis you’ll be able to set off on challenging hikes, or try your hand at rock-climbing. The Cetina River also provides a dramatic setting for a four hour-long kayak or rafting trip.
-Omis. Omis is no more than 20 minutes to the west, and boasts the distinction not just of being a picturesque and historic medieval city, but also of being nestled in breathtaking scenery, with tall sheer cliffs as a backdrop. Must-sees in Omis include the 10th Century St Peter’s Church, and the town’s defences, bolstered by a number of medieval fortresses.
-Split. It’s well worth making the trip northwest to the city of Split from your Pisak holiday home. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserving the Roman Diocletian Palace, around which Split originally took shape. It’s considered a vital piece of Europe’s Roman heritage, as is the 4th Century St. Duje’s Cathedral, believed to be the oldest cathedral in the world.
