Water sports are hugely popular, especially in the resorts of Punat, Nijivice and Silo, with wake-boarding, water skiing and sailing being the most popular. The island is famous throughout the region for its wonderful dive sites, but you must obtain a diving licence (for around €14) before diving. The Peltastis Wreck, Punta Silo, Vrbnik Cave and Tenki Reef are among the most exciting dives to enjoy.
The island hides a wealth of natural and man made treasures from most visitors, and there are some wonderful ways to really explore under the power of your own steam. Renting a sea kayak allows you can discover the silent beaches and caves that adorn the coastline, whilst on land, there are almost endless walking and cycling trails to take running through the changing landscapes and timeless villages of Krk. Horse riding is also extremely popular, with the main equestrian centre located near Njivice.

Krk Town, the island’s capital, is a bustling maze of streets, filled by some of the island’s finest restaurants and bars which bring the town to life during balmy summer evenings. The weekly markets are a fantastic glimpse of life in Krk, and those hoping to take a boat excursion to Prvic Island or the former communist jail at Goli Otok can find a ride from the harbour.
Malinska is a hugely popular place for tourists to take Krk accommodation. Located on the west coast of Krk Island, Malinska is a beach resort of great quality, and people flock from across the island to party in Crossroad, one of the island’s most popular nightclubs.

Krk Island enjoys a blissfully warm Mediterranean climate, with long, hot, dry summers lasting from May until September, and short, mild winters lasting from December until February. During the summer months, air temperatures tend to hover around the 26˚C mark, whilst the sea remains between 22˚C and 25˚C, ideal for swimming in right through until late October.
