They tend to be quiet, sheltered coves, lapped by calm and clear waters that are ideal for younger swimmers. And forming the backdrop is unspoiled pine forest behind which stand Dalmatia’s famous mountains.
-Watersports. As the water here is clear and warm for long periods of the year, this a great place to learn to dive, with plenty to discover underwater including ancient ruins, caves and abundant sea life. Above the surface it would be well worth hiring either a boat, with motor or without, to explore the craggy coast and its many islands.
-Outdoor activities. Directly inland from Baska Voda is Biokovo Mountain, which is protected as part of a natural park, and serves as an ideal hiking destination for anyone with a taste for adventure. -Omis. The town of Omis is a short drive west along the coast and is found in a dramatic setting. It sits at the mouth of the Cetina River and in the background stand the sheer cliffs of the river’s canyon. Sights to take in here include St Peter’s Church, which is pre-Romanesque and dates to the 900s.

Diocletian’s Palace is regarded as one of the best examples of Roman architecture anywhere and visitors can now explore the preserved remnants of its basement.
