The small island of Little Cayman has some lovely sandy beaches that are ideal for relaxing and catching some sun. The waters here are also pleasant for swimming as well as kayaking and sailing. Scuba diving is particularly popular on the north of the island at Bloody Bay and Jackson’s Bight.
Holidaymakers can also participate in deep sea and freshwater fishing trips. The island is only 10 square miles in size and can be easily explored by hikers or by bicycle. Other popular activities on the island include beachcombing and bird watching.
There are a handful of bars and restaurants on the island with a mix of Caribbean, American and other international cuisine. Little Cayman has little in the way of large shops but there are a few small gifts stores located around the island. There are some very pretty places to visit on the island including Booby Pond, which is a haven for birds such as egrets, ducks, herons and the booby. The pond has a visitor centre operated by the National Trust, which has some good exhibits and arts and crafts for sale. The Little Cayman Museum gives visitors an insight into the island’s history. Holidaymakers can take a trip to the uninhabited islet of Owen Island, which is just off the south coast of Little Cayman. Boat trips are available to the other Cayman Islands, Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac.

Summer temperatures are generally highest in July and August with daytime highs in the upper 80's to low 90's, whilst at night the lows are still in the in the low 80's. High humidity in the summer months often makes it feel hotter. Rainfall is generally seasonal from May to November, with May, June, September and October usually the wettest months. Rainfall can be heavy during the rainy season. However, the rain often doesn’t last very long.
Travel to Little Cayman, Cayman Islands
Little Cayman can be reached by flying to Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) on Grand Cayman, which has flights arriving from London-Heathrow (LHW), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) amongst other cities in North America. Passengers can than either travel by boat to Little Cayman or fly via Cayman Airways to Edward Bodden Airfield (LYB).
