Pájara is a municipality located in the south-west section of the Canary Island of Fuerteventura. Life is a little more laid-back on Fuerteventura than it is on some of the other Canary Islands, and it is for this reason that some people choose to stay in a holiday rental apartment in Pájara. Surrounded by all the comforts of home, but in an exotic setting, a holiday in Pájara is the perfect way to escape from the stresses of every day life, and lap up the sun in a relaxed atmosphere.
Even if the object of a holiday in Pájara is to relax and unwind, there are still a number of activities that can be tried if so desired. The coast provides all manner of water-based fun, where swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing and kayaking are all possible. With a vehicle, other parts of the island can be easily reached, and this means that golf, climbing, hiking and cycling can also be tried.
There are many places of interest to visit from the self catering accommodation in Pájara, although the use of a car is all but essential. In fact, it could be quite possible to drive around the island in a day, and certainly one or more excursions along the beautiful coastline are to be recommended. A trip to the pretty village of La Olivia will reveal a stunning church and friendly village; and heading to the north at Corralejo, one can see the dunes and even go out on a tour to see the dolphins at sea.
The weather in Pájara is excellent all the year around, with barely 150mm of rain falling during the entire 12 months. During the summer months, average daily highs can be around 30 degrees Celsius, and the lows around 20 degrees. During the winter, the daily highs are 20 degrees, and the lows 15 degrees. This means that it is possible to go on holiday in Pájara at any time of year, and indeed, many Europeans choose to go during the winter months to escape the cold back home.
Most people (unless they are one of the lucky few to arrive by yacht!), will need to fly into Fuerteventura to begin their holiday in Pájara. Fuerteventura Airport (FUE) is situated just 3 km outside of the capital of Puerto del Rosario. It is quite a busy place, and accepts flights from most European countries. Travellers from the UK have their pick of flights such as Easyjet flying out of London Gatwick (LGW) and Ryanair flying out of London Stansted (STN). Car rental is available at the airport, but is better organised beforehand.
