Arico is situated in the south-eastern part of the Canary island of Tenerife, and is an area covering coastal regions as well as a mountainous interior. It is possible to stay in a holiday rental apartment in Arico in both the coastal and interior regions, with each area holding different attractions for people. The advantages of staying in a rental apartment are that it offers a more independent way to enjoy the more tranquil parts of Arico, whilst at the same time, still offering access to the tourists resorts for which Tenerife is so famous.
There are a wide variety of leisure activities that can be enjoyed on a holiday in Arico, and the coastal resorts are the obvious place to head for first of all. Here, all manner of water sports can be enjoyed, including water skiing, snorkelling, swimming, sailing and diving. Other activities that can be tried on dry land are things such as golf, mountaineering, tennis and cycling. The mountain interior is also a wonderful place for hiking, and an important note, is to try and remember to take lots of water!
Most people who choose to stay in a holiday rental apartment in Arico are normally of an independent nature, and will take the chance to get out and about and explore what the island of Tenerife has to offer. A rental car is an important asset in this regard, as it enables a far greater freedom of movement. One place that should certainly be visited, is Teide National Park. A drive through pine forests reveals an almost lunar landscape, and there are not many places in the world where it is possible to take a cable car to the top of a volcano! A drive to the village of Masca which somehow clings to the side of the mountains in north west Tenerife should also be experienced, and for those people into ancient mysteries, the pyramids of Guimar can be visited.
As Tenerife is also known as the “Island of Eternal Spring”, it should come as no surprise that the weather it experiences is good no matter what the time of year. Apart from the mountain areas, rainfall is pretty minimal, measuring less than 40mm per month, and the temperature seems to be constantly between the 21 and 28 degrees Celsius range. August is the hottest month, and January the coolest, but self catering accommodation in Arico is often booked during the winter months by those people seeking to escape the dark and the cold of a northern European winter.
There are two international airports to choose from on Tenerife when considering a holiday in Arico, but perhaps the most convenient is Tenerife South (TFS). A number of airlines connect this airport with cities around Europe, and of interest to UK residents, will be Easyjet flights from Manchester (MAN) and Ryanair flights from London Stansted (STN). Car hire is available at the airport in order to make a smooth connection to the holiday rental apartment in Arico.
