Burgas (Bourgas) lies on Bulgaria’s Black Sea Coast. The fourth largest city in the country after Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna, Burgas is the most important in southeast Bulgaria. With the old town well preserved, there are a huge number of historical, artistic and cultural treasures to be sought out from a Burgas holiday rental. The hospitality and way of life in Burgas is simply unbeatable, and tourists here can take so much from staying in a traditional Burgas house as opposed to a generic Burgas hotel.
Although Burgas does have some great beaches along the coast of the Black Sea, beach holidays to Bulgaria’s Black Sea are better taken in the beach resorts serviced by Burgas, such as the blue flag resorts of Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Sozopol and Dyuni. The coast of the Black Sea is extremely beautiful and diverse, from sharp cliffs to white sand beaches, unique monuments from different tribes and religious epochs dot the landscape.
The Archaeological Museum in Burgas gives a magnificent overview of the city’s history, and the Burgas Art Gallery, located in a former Synagogue is the oldest gallery in the country.
Burgas, despite its industrial origins, has an incredible artistic spirit. The rich folklore and rich colours of local art are celebrated annually at the International Folklore Festival and National Flora Exhibition.
Burgas is surrounded by unspoilt natural wonders. The salt lagoons which are on three sides of the city contrast naturally with the Black Sea which dominates the view of most of the Burgas holiday rentals, and there is fantastic walking to be enjoyed in the region.
The shores of the Black Sea offer magnificent windsurfing, and the sport is growing annually in Bulgaria. The coast however is best known for the huge number of spas and wellness spots. There are over 800 natural springs, many with curative properties, which have been exploited by excellent luxury health spas.
There is a dramatic difference between the hot summers in Burgas, where the Black Sea become a vital tourist attraction, and the cold winters when it is the rich culture, fantastic food, warm welcome and deep folklore which keeps the holiday rentals in Burgas full. Summer average temperatures hover around 30°C, whilst in the winter, this figure drops to around 5°C.
Reaching a rental house in Burgas could not be easier. Burgas Airport (BOJ) receives daily flights from London, Manchester (MAN), Cardiff (CWL) and Glasgow (GLA).
