Brazil is known for its sublime weather and pristine beaches populated by beautiful people. Tartaruga, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, is no different and visitors can expect to find all the above and more there. Actually, the Buzios part of Rio is a resort known worldwide for having quality beaches. But what sets Tartaruga apart is the fact that if visitors wish for a bit of seclusion; a quiet section of beach to read a novel, they can find it on this beach. Those who love outdoor activity, and water sport in particular will also be able to scuba dive and indulge in many other such activities. Comfortable holiday houses equipped with facilities such as WiFi Internet and private pools and luxurious beach houses are some of the available accommodation options in Tartaruga.
This beautiful beach is perfect for sun bathing, what with its soft golden sands, turquoise waters and unlimited supply of sunshine. The waters off Tartaruga are calm and ideal for swimming or simply splashing about. And while visitors lounge and admire the incredible scenery they will also see a number of sea birds. To help them better relax, tourists here will find a restaurant conveniently located on the beach where they can dine on tasty sea food or grilled steak. There are also a couple of bars nearby for them to grab that handy cocktail. To see the beauty beneath the waters, visitors can hire gear and go snorkelling or scuba diving. There they will be treated to the sight of turtles and a host of other fascinating sea creatures.
While in these parts visitors will want to pay a visit to Rua das Pedras in the town of Buzios. This quaint cobblestone street is lined with pleasant eateries, cafes and shops. It is also home to very vibrant night spots where visitors can go to dance to live samba and thumping DJ selections.
One of Buzios’ more secluded beaches is Ferradurinha which is tucked away from view but easily accessible. This is a beach where one can escape from holiday crowds and the vendors who prowl about more popular beaches. Surfers will also want to head to Ferradurinha and sample the delicious waves off its coastline.
Like the rest of the resort town of Buzios, Tartaruga is blessed with nice warm weather throughout the year with temperatures oscillating between 24 and 29°C for most of the year. In summer, even in the days towards the end of spring, days in which temperatures surpass the 30°C mark are common. Showers are experienced mostly during spring and autumn but they don’t amount to significant levels of precipitation.
Most of Tartaruga’s visitors arrive by direct flight to the busy Rio de Janeiro International Airport in Brazil’s capital. From there they take a close to 2 hour ride in a taxi or rental vehicle to get to Buzios. Both these modes of travel are readily available at the airport.
