Holidaymakers looking for a beautiful island resort in the Atlantic Ocean with wonderful views need look no further than Double Bay in the Bahamas. This wonderful place is located in the middle of the long thin island of Eleuthera and is a great location for many interesting attractions. Double Bay has some glorious pink sandy beaches making this a great place to relax and enjoy the sun, while children build sandcastles. Visitors can explore the island by hiking, cycling and horse riding. The only golf course on the island is the 18-hole Cotton Bay Golf Course, which is about an hour’s drive from Double Bay. Near to this is Glass Window Bridge where holidaymakers can see the dark Atlantic meeting the aquamarine Caribbean at the thinnest part of Eleuthera. In the south of the island is an interesting natural feature called Ocean Hole, which is a mile from the sea but is still filled with salt water fish. The temperature on Eleuthera is warm all year round. The warmest month is August with an average high of 90 degrees Fahrenheit and the coolest being January with an average high of 76 degrees Fahrenheit. On average thee driest month is April with slightly less than an inch of rainfall, while November is the wettest with an average of 5.4 inches.
Governor’s Harbour Airport (GHB) is approximately 20 minutes drive from Double Bay. Holidaymakers can take a flight to Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS), which is near the capital city of the Bahamas, Nassau and get a connecting flight to Governor’s Harbour Airport with Bahamasair. Flights arrive at Nassau from Fort Lauderdale (FLL), London-Gatwick (LGW), Miami (MIA) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ). Car rentals firms are located on the island.
