Zugspitz Arena is close to many interesting places such as Ehrwald, which is home to the ruins of a medieval castle and a fascinating museum. About 30 minutes away is the lovely market town of Telfs. Here tourists can see the Franciscan Monastery and some very old houses dating as far back as the 13th century. Approximately one hour away is the city of Innsbruck, which features attractions such as the Goldenes Dachl and the Triumphbogen. Other historic buildings, monasteries and chapels are located in the region such as the Schloss Ambras Castle near Innsbruck.
Temperatures in the Tirol region of Austria vary sharply during the year with July the hottest month. The average maximum is 25 degrees centigrade in July with June and August almost as hot. December and January are the coldest months with temperatures regularly dipping below zero degrees centigrade and a good deal of snowfall occurs too. Ironically June and July also have the most rainy days per month.
Innsbruck Kranebitten Airport (INN) is about one hour’s drive from Zugspitz Arena. The airport handles regional flights around Austria and Germany as well as seasonal flights from other European destinations including Amsterdam (AMS), Dublin (DUB), London-Gatwick (LGW) and Moscow-Sheremetyevo (SVO). Car rental offices are located in the main hall and on the ground floor of the multi-story car park. Alternatively Munich Airport is about an hour and 45 minutes away and handles more flights to and from cities such as Amsterdam (AMS), Beijing-Capital (PEK), Dublin (DUB), London-Heathrow (LHW), Madrid (MAD), New York (JFK), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Rome-Fiumicino (FCO) and Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) amongst others. Again there are car rental firms located at the airport.
