If you are looking for a scenic area in the middle of Europe with all year round activities then Zillertal Arena in Austria is a perfect choice. It is situated among the Austrian Alps in the west side of the country and offers fantastic panoramic views throughout the year. Zillertal Arena is one of the largest ski areas in the country and has 165 kilometres of pistes with varying degrees of difficulty. The mountains provide a wonderful location for walking, mountain biking and climbing with great scenery all around. The area houses numerous bars and restaurants on the mountains and at the base with a variety of cuisine including Chinese, Italian, French and local fare. Cable cars take tourists up in to the mountains where they can enjoy spectacular views and alpine flowers. July and August are generally the warmest months in his part of Austria with average high temperatures of about 23 degrees centigrade. In winter the temperature can drop 2 or 3 degrees below zero at night, especially in December and January. However, these two months are also often dry with the risk of rain more likely in July.
The nearest airport to Zillertal is Innsbruck Kranebitten Airport (INN), which is less than an hour’s drive away. The airport handles regional flights around Austria and Germany as well as seasonal flights from other European destinations including London, Amsterdam, Dublin and Moscow. Car rental offices are located in the main hall and on the ground floor of the multi-story car park. Alternatively Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC) is about an hour and three quarter drive away and handles more flights to and from cities such as Amsterdam, London, Paris, Madrid, New York, Toronto and many more. Again there are car rental firms located at the airport.
