Langenfeld has some museums well worth visiting including an open air one called Otztaler Heimat-und Freilichtmuseum. The parish church of St Catherine on Oberlangenfeld has a tower 74 metres high. Umhausen is a pretty place to visit as well featuring historic buildings such as the 15th century gothic parish church and the Gasthaus Krone. Solden also has an interesting parish church with wrought iron crosses in the churchyard. Holidaymakers can venture into Italy via the Timmelsjoch Road, which is open just a few months of the year.
Temperatures in the Tyrol region of Austria vary sharply during the year with July the hottest month. The average maximum is 25 degrees centigrade in July with June and August almost as hot. December and January are the coldest months with temperatures regularly dipping below zero degrees centigrade and a good deal of snowfall occurs too. Ironically June and July also have the most rainy days per month.
The biggest airport in the Tirol and the nearest to Otztal is Innsbruck Kranebitten Airport (INN), which is approximately 50 kilometres away. The airport handles regional flights around Austria and Germany as well as seasonal flights from other European destinations including Amsterdam (AMS), Dublin (DUB), London-Gatwick (LGW) and Manchester (MAN) amongst others. Car rental offices are located in the main hall and on the ground floor of the multi-story car park. Alternatively Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport (MUC) is about a two and a half hour drive away and handles more flights to and from international airports such as Amsterdam (AMS), Brussels (BRU), Dublin (DUB), London-Gatwick (LGW), London-Heathrow (LHW), Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), Madrid (MAD), New York (JFK), Rome-Fiumicino (FCO), Toronto-Pearson (YYZ) and many more. Again there are car rental firms located at the airport.
