Anyone looking for all year round activities in a beautiful location will find Nockberge/Bad Kleinkirchheim to be a great destination to visit. Located in the south of Austria, this area has many activities available and places to visit. In the winter months visitors to the area can head to the Nock Mountain and participate in downhill and cross country skiing. The Nockberge National Park is a wonderful place to visit with beautiful flora and fauna as well as great views. Families who enjoy seeing animals can visit the Nockalm Reptile Zoo in Patergassen and the Alpine Wild Animal Park/Naturstadl in Feld am See. There are several museums located in the area including an auto museum and a bonsai museum. Hisitoric and religious buildings can be found here too such as the pilgrimage church of St Katharina im Bade. Families may like to venture in to Klagnefurt in the summer, where there are many good places to go to including a theme park and various historic buildings.
The warmest months in southern Austria are July and August with an average maximum high temperature of 25 degrees centigrade. December and January are usually the coldest months with an average temperature range of between -5 to -2 degrees centigrade and snow in winter is quite common. June and July are the wettest months with an average 125mm of rain.
Klagenfurt Airport is approximately one hour from Bad Kleinkirchheim and has a limited number of flights to destinations in Europe. These include flights to Frankfurt-Hahn and London-Stansted with Ryanair, Berin-Tegel, Cologne/Bonn, Hamburg and Hanover with Air Berlin, Munich with Lufthansa and Vienna with Austrian Airlines. There are several car rental services based at the airport. Alternatively visitors can get a flight to Ljubljana JoÅ¾e Pu?nik Airport in Slovenia, which is about 110 kilometres away and has flights to and from Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, London-Gatwick, Munich, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Zurich with Adria Airways as well as numerous other destinations. Again there are car rental firms on site at the airport.
