Holidaymakers looking for a fun vacation in southern Europe might like to try Ordino in the tiny country of Andorra. Located in the Pyrenees between France and Spain, Ordino has many enjoyable things to do and see. Ordino features several museums such as the Postal Museum and Casa d’Areny-Plandoit Home Museum The latter is a house dating back to the 17th century and is one of the country’s most emblematic museums. There are also a couple of charming churches in Ordino. Sorteny Valley Nature Park has over 700 species of flowers and plants and is well worth a visit. The principality’s capital city Andorra la Vella is just a 15 minute drive from Ordino and has many more places of interest such as the 9th century Church of Santa Coloma and the Casa de la Vall. Also located here is La Margineda Bridge, which is a Romanesque structure dating back to the 12th century.
The warmest time of the year in Andorra is July and August when the average high temperature is 26 degrees centigrade. The coldest month of the year is January when the average minimum temperature of 1 degree centigrade. May is usually the wettest month of the year with an average of 105mm rainfall, compared to just 34mm in January. However, there is plenty of snowfall during the ski season between December and early April.
Toulouse Airport (TLS) is approximately 125 miles from Ordino. Flights arrive here from various French cities as well as from international airports such as Amsterdam (AMS), Brussels (BRU), Lisbon (LIS), London-Gatwick (LGW), London-Heathrow (LHW), Madrid (MAD), Munich (MUC) and Rome-Fiumicino (FCO). From Toulouse visitors can hire a car through rental firms located at the airport including Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National/Citer and Sixt.
