Les Gets is a low altitude ski resort in the Portes du Soleil area, in the Haute-Savoie region of France. Particularly good for beginners and intermediate skiers, Les Gets offers 65 runs totaling 120km, and an authentic Alpine atmosphere. There are 11 runs dedicated to experienced skiers, (one of over 11km) and 28 for beginners. The ski season lasts from mid-December until April.
As part of the Portes du Soleil ski resorts, a chalet in Les Gets is linked to 13 other ski resorts and the facilities and nightlife associated with them. The other 530km of pistes are all accessible by shuttle bus from Les Gets.
Throughout the year, the bowling alley, swimming pools, saunas, hot tubs, ice rink, hiking trails and paragliding opportunities add to the excitement of taking holiday accommodation in Les Gets. Although the nightlife in Les Gets is not extensive, there are 23 restaurants serving a combination of traditional Alpine, French and Italian food. Summer does not mean that the chalets and apartments of Les Gets are empty. For such a small village there are magnificent facilities to be enjoyed. The slopes become havens for mountain bikers and hikers, and bike holidays to Les Gets are hugely rewarding, especially during the mountain biking World Cup which is regularly held in Les Gets. Other facilities available are an 18 hole golf course, Adventure Park, swimming lakes, ten pin bowling and extensive range of restaurants.
Of the other 13 ski resorts which make up Portes du Soleil, Morzine-Avoriaz is the most popular with snow boarders. It too has an authentic Savoyard charm and a slow pace of life which makes it an ideal getaway, winter or summer.
