The Saint-Malo area is a popular holiday destination for British visitors, largely due to its port and the resultant minimal travel time that this offers. Le Tronchet is a small village around 25km inland from Saint-Malo, which is primarily known for its outstanding golf courses, where players can practice their swing amongst some of the finest scenery the region has to offer. If you are seeking peace, relaxation and golf in the glorious Brittany countryside, Le Tronchet could be the holiday rental destination for you.
Le Tronchet is a good destination for a golfing holiday, especially during the warm and dry (but not overly hot) summer months. A great destination for a round or two is the St Malo - Le Tronchet golf Club, which features an 18-hole course nestled amongst some spectacular scenery. The clubs draws players from many miles around with its winning combination of rich history and modern attractions, and should be top of the list for every golf-loving visitor. Many more golf courses can also be found in the surrounding region.
Away from the greens and fairways Le Tronchet has more to see and do. A series of cycle paths and forest walks are almost on your doorstep, and the village has some good restaurants – especially when it comes to seafood. The use of a hire car is recommended when on holiday here, as there is much more on offer in the neighbouring towns and villages.
After enjoying the golf in Le Tronchet you will likely want to explore the remainder of the Ille-et-Vilaine department and beyond. Saint-Malo (25km) is a recommended stop-off on the way to or from your self-catering accommodation, being an attractive walled city that does not always get the positive reviews it deserves. Attractions in Saint-Malo include the town museum, a couple of cathedrals and one of the largest aquariums in the country. If you can spare a couple of days, Saint-Malo also has a direct TGV service to Paris.
July and August are the warmest months in Le Tronchet, with an average daily high temperature of 22°C. This is also the time of the year with the lowest rainfall, and as a result the period when Le Tronchet holiday rental accommodation is at it’s busiest. May and September are often cheaper alternatives that still have pleasant temperatures.
The closest airport to Le Tronchet is Dinard – Pleurtuit – Saint-Malo Airport (DNR), 29km to the north-west, which receives flights from the UK through no-frills airline Ryanair. Many visitors to this part of Brittany prefer to make the crossing by ferry though, with the port at Saint-Malo a similar distance away.
