Holidaymakers looking for some Caribbean sunshine on one of the smaller islands should visit Le Marin. This is a beautiful resort on the island of Martinique and it offers holidaymakers plenty of things to see and do. Holidaymakers staying at Le Marin on the island of Martinique will be able to enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches, which are ideal for sunbathing and just generally relaxing. Golfers can head to the Empress Josephine Golf Course just 20 minutes from Le Marin. This lovely resort offers some great places for hikers, cyclists and horse riders to explore and enjoy the wonderful views. Other activities available in and around Le Marin include tennis, canyoning, mountain biking and quad biking. There are bars, inns and restaurants located in the area serving delicious local cuisine including fabulous fresh seafood dishes. Self catering holidaymakers will find several places selling food, drink and other provisions.
Visitors wanting a break from life on the beach at Le Marin will find a good number of beautiful and interesting places on Martinique. There are some lovely parks and gardens located on the island such as the Sea Gardens, Latouche’s Creek Garden and Butterflies’ Garden. There are more than a dozen museums on the island including the Volcano Museum, the Banana Museum and the Saint James Rum Museum. The island has some wonderful historic buildings too, not least of which is the Jesuit style church in Le Marin, which was built back in 1766. Another interesting site to visit is the Dubuc Castle at Trinite on the north of the island.
The weather here is consistently warm all year round with temperatures ranging from 71 degrees Fahrenheit to 87 degrees Fahrenheit. The wettest weather is generally encountered between May and November with between 5 and 9.5 inches of rain on average per month. Thunderstorms are most likely between August and October. February and March are the driest months with an average of 2.7 inches of rain. Holidaymakers should note the hurricane season runs from June to November.
Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport (FDF) serves the island and is approximately half an hour’s drive from Le Marin. Flights arrive here from Montreal-Trudeau, Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Paris-Orly (ORY). Visitors from the United States can fly to San Juan (SJU) in Puerto Rico, which also has flights to and from Martinique. There are a few car rental firms located at the airport and elsewhere on the island.
