Le Lavandou, France is a beautiful Mediterranean coastal town in Var, southern France. It is an immaculately kept town with 12km of pristine coastline and long sandy beaches inundated with tiny coves and idyllic private spots. With all the facilities and luxuries expected of a top class Mediterranean beach resort, Le Lavandou still maintains important facilities for fishing, and priority in the marina is given to the fishing fleet, although many beautiful luxury yachts are moored here.
The warm, crystal clear waters have made Le Lavandou a genuine treasure for the tourist industry in France. Not only do the beaches provide great sunbathing, beach volleyball courts and a base for swimming, but the waters of the Mediterranean have turned Le Lavandou from a small fishing port into a game fishing destination. The deep sea fishing is magnificent, and trips can easily be organized from the marina. Scuba diving is also hugely popular, and divers from across Europe descent on the holiday accommodation in Le Lavandou to explore the rich marine life.
The countryside of Var is extremely varied and rich in wildlife and points of interest, making it an ideal place for both walking and cycling holidays. Medieval hilltop villages and magnificent viewpoints offer a huge number of places to stop and catch your breath.
The sea is an important feature of life in Le Lavandou, and the Boat Show in April and Windsurfing Week in May are dedicated to the sea. Every Thursday morning, there is a large fish market, where local fishermen sell their catch, perfect for stocking the fridge in a self catering apartment.

Just a few miles along the coast is the beautiful medieval village of Bormes-les-Mimosas. Walking to the top of the hill, the ruins of the 13th Century chateau attract a huge number of tourists staying in a Le Lavandou gite.
Hyeres has a huge amount to see, much more than is possible on a day trip from a villa in Le Lavandou, but is still worth trying! Despite being on the coast, Hyeres doesn’t have anywhere near the same atmosphere as the coastal resorts in the area. The narrow streets are filled with fashion boutiques and glamorous cafes, whilst the Park St Bernard is a beautiful place to walk. Diving, mini-golf, ice skating and hiking are popular activities from Hyeres too.
The summer in Le Lavandou is scorching, making the beaches an essential asset. Temperatures in the height of summer have been known to reach 40°C. During the winter, temperatures remain between 10 and 14°C.
