The beach of L’Argentiere is a great place to discover the underwater world. An array of fish, sea urchins and other creatures lie below the surface, and a designated underwater snorkelling trail can be followed between May and October. The beach itself is a sandy stretch in the shade of pine trees, and one of several good-quality beaches within the area.
There are many other water-based ways in which you can discover this coastal paradise, including by kayak, scuba diving, and sailing. Those who want someone else to do the hard work for them should head down to port Miramar, where there a number of boat excursions to choose from on a daily basis.
There are a number of other attractions within the village, including the Tropical Bird Garden, the Ligure de Gaoutabry dolmen and the port area, around which are a number of restaurants and cafe bars. Vineyard tours and golfing excursions are also easy to arrange, or you can simply make your own way around the village, and head off for a hike in the hills or hire a mountain bike for the day.
The town of Hyeres makes essential viewing when holidaying in the region, and lies just 10km along the coast from La-Londe-les-Maures. La-Londe-les-Maures has its own microclimate, with over 300 days of sunshine a year. The beaches are a great place to be during the summer, as temperatures regularly reach above 30C. If you plan a more active break, you may wish to consider visiting in late spring or early autumn, as the climate then is still extremely pleasant, and less draining when hiking and cycling around. Even in winter months temperatures rarely drop below 10C.
27km away, Toulon-Hyeres Airport (TLN), also known as Hyeres Le Palyvestre Airport, is the best place to head for in order to get to your holiday accommodation in La-Londe-les-Maures. At present, the only direct service from the UK is operated by Ryanair out of London Stansted Airport (STN), though a Bristol-Toulon route is planned for July 2009.
