This small, unspoilt island is next to Tenerife in the Spanish Canary Islands. The village around the ferry port and the small harbour town at Playa Santiago has shops, bars and restaurants as well as banks and tourist information.
Beaches - Unlike its near neighbour, Tenerife, the beaches close to your La Gomera villa are mainly pebble with some sand. Valle Gran Rey has three beaches. The Charco del Conde’s beach is shallow and offers safe paddling but Playa del Inles is more rugged and dangerous for swimming. It is also a naturist beach.
Exploring the Island - La Gomera is ideal for walking, hiking and cycling to explore this rugged island. Enjoy the tranquility of the area and the beautiful views from your accommodation in La Gomera. The terrain can be quite strenuous as it is very hilly and there are few signposted paths.
Walk through Gomera’s Rainforest - The Parque National de Garajonay is one of the world’s oldest laurel tree forests. The woods on the island are made up of many ancient trees which make a pleasant shady walk. Heather trees thrive here and are several metres high, unlike the low-growing Scottish heather. Have a picnic and hear the local legend of the two lovers.
Playa Santiago - The village around the fishing harbour is the main resort to enjoy from your La Gomera villa. Enjoy exploring the local shops and walk around the fishing harbour here. The town has banks, internet facilities, taxis and a medical centre as well as some bars and restaurants.
Boat Trips - Take a trip to San Cristianos on Tenerife for the day with the Fred Olsen ferry line. The town has plenty to do and there is a sandy beach lined with hotels and restaurants along the sea front, or take a trip up Mount Teide, the dormant volcano, in a cable car.
Garajonay - Visit the highest point on the island from your La Gomera Villa. From the car park by Alto de Contadero take the leisurely 20 minute walk to the top for some fantastic island views.
Located off the west coast of Africa, La Gomera in the Canary Islands enjoys year-round sunshine and warm temperatures. Temperatures range from 21-29C (70-84F) throughout the year. Playa Santiago is known for having the sunniest weather on the island.
There are many budget airlines which fly into Tenerife Sur airport each day. This airport is just 14km from the port at Los Cristianos where ferries sail to the port of San Sebastian and your accommodation on Las Gomers, Canaries.
