The seaside town of Kyparissia is well located for enjoying the best of both the beaches and the mountains in southwest Peloponnese. The beautiful area is relatively undiscovered by tourism but has plenty of ancient monuments and things to do. The long sandy beaches are favoured by the sea turtles that come ashore and make their nests in the breeding season. The town has two areas: the upper Ano Poli which is the traditional settlement within the city walls, and the Kato Poli which is the more modern area. The palm-tree lined road leads from the centre of the town down the hill to the beautiful beach and the surrounding area is given over to vineyards and olive groves.
The long sandy bay of Ai Lagoudis is just a five minute stroll from the centre of Kyparisiia and has soft sand and clean water for swimming. It is surrounded by small cafés and has excellent facilities.
ShoppingThe open air antiques bazaar near your holiday home in Kyparissia is a great place to browse for antiques which make great souvenirs. The bazaar straddles the Megalo Kalderimi, one of the most picturesque areas of the old town. Weekly markets in the area also sell local produce and souvenirs.
The Church of the Holy Trinity (Agia Triada) can be found in the Old Town and is an interesting building to explore. It is considered the protector of the town and each year there is a festival to celebrate its existence.
The ruined medieval castle is also known as the Castle of Arcadia and is one of the best known attractions in the area. This Byzantine fortress was built on the site of an ancient acropolis and one of the original towers at the corner of the castle still remains, although the rest are in ruins. From the site there are great views over the town and the sea.
This interesting area at Peristeria is just 8km north east of your holiday villa in Kyparissia. It was only excavated in 1960 to reveal the remains of vaulted graves, palaces and Mycenaen houses.

Kyparissia has gorgeous weather almost all year round with mild winters enjoying temperatures between 46-58°F (8-15°C). The summer months are dry and hot with average temperatures reaching 84°F (29°C) in August.
