Kennebunkport was once a relatively unknown community. But since the world learned that it is the location of the summer home of the Bush family, including two former U.S. presidents, the area has become much more popular for those on holiday. A holiday rental home in Kennebunkport may put you just steps from the beach. You will be surrounded by New England beauty and all the best this area has to offer.
The beautiful beaches provide the opportunity for swimming, boating and fishing. Of course, you will have to visit during the summer if you plan to make the most of your time in the out of doors. Take a ride on an antique trolley, go hiking on some of the many nearby trails or enjoy a round of golf. There are some fabulous golf courses nearby. You will also find many spas. Get a relaxing massage, facial or other relaxing treatment. When it is time to eat, be sure to sample some of the local favourites such as fresh caught lobster, crab cakes and many other seafood dishes. When it comes to food, Maine is, perhaps, best known for its lobster, so be sure to sample that in some of its many forms such as lobster rolls or even lobster macaroni and cheese.
Whilst you won’t be able to see the inside of the Bush family home – in fact, Secret Service Agents will make sure no one even steps foot on the property – you are permitted to take pictures of this lovely estate. The most photographed home in the area is not the Bush estate. Instead, it is a little gingerbread style home called the Wedding Cake House. This house features intricate detailing on the exterior, which is how it earned its nickname. A number of Colonial homes can be found nearby as well. The Seashore Trolley Museum is one of several interesting museum found in the area.
