Technically, September is a month of some stasis: summer is over, winter has yet to begin. Of course, this is but one view. For many, autumn signifies a welcome change, as the harvest throws up countless opportunities to eat good food - and imbibe better wine - while the climate makes forays into the countryside magical. Whatever your idea of fun, September is a month worthy of consideration for a holiday; the schools have reopened, meaning resorts are less crowded, while the sun still burnishes the clouds throughout much of the Med. The prices have plummeted, too.
A September holiday in the UK can be gorgeous and mellow. For many though, the temperatures at home - barring the odd ray of late-summer sunshine - simply aren’t good enough. At HomeAway, you can rent a villa in Mallorca, an apartment in Ibiza or a condo in Bermuda: the choice is yours. Alternatively, you might seek relaxation on a holiday to one of our top September destinations: read on to find out more.

Criminally underappreciated, Malta has everything you could wish for in a holiday destination: beautiful beaches, radiant sunshine, delicious local food and an abundance of history and culture. Where to go on holiday in September? Visits Corsica
The Mediterranean island of Corsica is a mystery to many; but few could be disappointed after a week or two samling its finer points. South of Monaco, west of Rome, the island fuses Italian and French influences, and is as famed for its teeming olive groves and charming fishing villages as it is for its immaculate sand beaches. In September the island fairly empties out, and the opportunity to sample earthy Corsican cooking, from Calvi to Porto Vecchio, should not to be missed!
