Recipes from Thomasina Miers
Latin American recipes from celebrity chef Thomasina Miers
Former MasterChef winner and founder of Mexican restaurant Wahaca, Thomasina Miers is a well-known English cook, writer and television presenter. A food lover and a passionate traveller alike, Thomasina spent a year working in Mexico and has several cookery books to her name. Her recipes are inspired by her travels to Mexico and Latin America and often make use of ingredients that originated in the region or are particular specialities from places she has visited. Courgettes, for example, come from Mexico, and the prolific use of fresh herbs and cheeses is very traditional; there are also regional delicacies that vary from state to state, village to village, such as green rice salads, chimichurri sauces and nieves – a fruity, simple and infinitely versatile sorbet. The recipes featured here make good use of these ingredients and include a selection of salads, a grilled steak as well as two delicious desserts.
