Lecce Summer holidays in Lecce

 

Dubbed by those in the know as “the Florence of the South,” the city of Lecce is located at the southernmost tip of Puglia - the stiletto of Italy, if you will. Notable primarily for its stunning architecture, it’s impossible not to fall for the city’s Baroque charm. One must-see is the breathtaking Piazza Del Duomo. Located in the heart of Lecce, you’ll feel a million miles away from it all as you venture down the small alleyway which opens out to the majestic stone pier and historic buildings. An untouched secret before its relatively recent discovery in 1938, the system takes explorers on a 70 metre deep journey amidst a fantasy world of stalagmites and stalactites. Grotte di Castellana may sound more like a country manor than a cave, but the only family jewels to be found here are still in the ground that formed them.
