There's no better way to spend the summer than in magnificent Majorca
Majorca is one of our best-loved holiday destinations, and the biggest of all the Balearics. With its excellent climate and paradisiacal coast, it's been popular with families, friends and couples for almost fifty years. But ample sunshine isn't the only reason to choose magnificent Majorca: some fall in love with its beautiful landscapes, others visit the mountains for outdoor activities, and many delight in family-friendly attractions such as wildlife reserves and water parks.
Of course, some holidaymakers head to Majorca for non-stop, lively nightlife, centred around the likes of Magaluf and Palma Nova; but head for resorts in the north, east and west of the island, and you'll find tranquil, stunning beaches amidst more traditional ways of life.
Here at HomeAway, we have hundreds of properties across the island, from quaint villas in Pollensa to charming apartments in Soller. Whatever you want to do, and wherever you want to stay, we've got ideal accommodation covered. So when planning summer holidays to Majorca, make your break extra special with help from HomeAway.

Pollensa is a fascinating medieval town, located in the north of Majorca just inland from the coast. The original town from which better-known Puerto Pollensa grew, it's a fantastic destination for summer holidays to Majorca. Book an apartment or villa here when you want the best of everything: you can enjoy the spoils of the beach, but have dozens of historic sites and markets to explore besides. Admire original architecture such as the church of Nostra Senyora, before relaxing into Pollensa's slow-paced, peaceful lifestyle.

Puerto Pollensa is located on the north coast of Majorca, nestled in the heart of a sheltered, horseshoe-shaped bay. Unsurprisingly, it's one of the most popular spots for summer holidays to Majorca: golden, sandy beaches line the shore, overlooked by the marvellous Boquer mountain range. But it's by no means as lively as Magaluf or Palma Nova, and remains a beautifully tranquil, scenic fishing port. Spend the day strolling along Pine Walk promenade, before sampling delicious, fresh seafood in one of the resort's traditional restaurants.

Soller lies in the west of Majorca, and offers quite a different experience from those in more northerly resorts. Located at the heart of a luscious, green valley, its scenery is dominated by the majestic Tramontana Mountains, the highest in Majorca. Port de Soller is the most popular resort in the area: a charming, rustic old town, it combines chic cafes and traditional markets, as well as an impressive beach. Whether you want to get away from the crowds or simply relax in the midst of nature, Soller is a great destination for summer holidays to Majorca.

Cala d'Or grew from a small, traditional fishing village, and today spans over four kilometres of picturesque, sandy coves. Pedestrianised Cala Gran is the resort's most popular area, boasting a range of traditional bars and restaurants, as well as the largest beach in town. But Cala d'Or itself - from which the resort takes its name - is a much smaller, less crowded area. You can even take a bus to nearby Es Trenc from here: with clear waters and golden sands surrounded by fragrant pine trees, you'll find few places better for summer holidays to Majorca.

All flights to Majorca arrive in Palma, but while many visitors choose to stay in the island’s capital (which does promise it own uniquely spectacular sight-seeing), travel off the beaten path when you want to discover hidden gems. Public transport is excellent across much of the island, so you can easily travel as much, or as little, as you like. Indeed, the entirety of Majorca is within just 75 miles of Pollensa, so it's the perfect base for budding explorers.
With temperatures a pleasant 30ºC in mid-summer, and an excellent fusion of traditional and contemporary Majorcan culture, this beautiful Balearic island will appeal to all. So don't think twice about treating yourself this summer - enjoy the holiday of a lifetime with the help of HomeAway.
