Discover what lies beneath on a scuba holiday
Scuba diving is an activity which will delight anyone with a sense of adventure, a love of nature and a desire to explore the world's least discovered region; the deep, blue ocean. After the exhilarating experience of getting up close and personal with some of the worlds most bizarre creatures, returning to a warm, sun soaked beach to reflect on the day's adventures could not be any more satisfying or relaxing!
No two dives are ever the same, and every time you return to the surface you feel a huge buzz, which hides your exhaustion until later in the evening, making your choice of accommodation really important. During a scuba diving holiday it is essential that you have comfortable, warm accommodation with plenty of space to clean, check and store your diving equipment and scuba gear, and plenty of space in which to relax and recuperate before returning to the water. There is no holiday accommodation as well suited to scuba diving holidays as a private holiday rental.

Scuba diving is a highly skilled activity, but if you have never worn diving equipment before, there are plenty of scuba diving courses available. It is wise to book a scuba diving course during your holiday as courses are often cheaper abroad, and special tips for local dives can be hugely advantageous. There are two internationally recognised scuba diving courses, the PADI Diving courses, which are modular and therefore you can pick up where you left off on your last holiday, and the BSAC Sports Diving Course, which is designed for serious divers. It may be a good idea to do your PADI Confined Water Course before leaving home to save up to two days of classroom time during your scuba holiday. There is no need to buy scuba gear either; diving equipment can almost always be hired.
When done properly, scuba diving is a safe, relaxing and liberating activity. Although you do not have to be fit to an international sporting level, you must be in relatively good shape both physically and mentally as scuba diving is a demanding sport. There are some fantastic destinations for beginners, including the favourite for those training to scuba dive, the Red Sea. Children under 15 must take a special PADI diving course, but as long as your travel insurance covers scuba diving, you are already set to start an unforgettable scuba diving holiday in the destination of your choice.
