Summer holidays in the US
Summer time fun in the United States of America
HomeAway travel expert
Visiting the US for the first time can be exciting, albeit a bit frightening. This is especially true if you do not know which state or city you want to visit. Some people enjoy getting around the states a little bit whilst they are there. After all, a trip across the pond is not something you do every summer. It seems you would want to make the best of your time spent there. If your holiday will last the entire summer, you will have enough time to find accommodation in the US, in several different areas. We have compiled a list of places that might be fun to visit.
If you are unfamiliar with the US then we hope the information found here will be helpful to you in terms of deciding upon a destination. The US is so large that you would probably have to spend the summer there each year before you could really cover it all! Your first trip should include well-known cities, but if you want to take subsequent trips to the US, you might wish to get off the beaten path for a bit. However, just as most people visiting Europe for the first time would insist upon seeing London, Paris and other major European cities, most citizens of the UK would agree on seeing New York, Chicago and Las Vegas!
Some of the most popular US holiday destinations
Summer Holidays in New York City
Because NYC becomes so cold and dreary during the wintertime, summer is really the best time to explore the city. You can see ground zero and the new construction going up, which in itself is something to see. You can also hire guided tours of the city and all the historical points it has to offer, such as Ellis Island where many of the immigrants came into the US, as well as the Statue of Liberty. Whatever you do while in NYC, do not forget to try a slice of the best pizza in the world at one of the many pizzerias found there.

Summer Holidays in Miami
If you are looking for some real fun in the sun, the Miami area in Florida is a superb summer holiday destination. There are so many things to do and see in this metropolis. However, most people find the beach the best place to be when holidaying in this region. In Miami, you have South Beach, which is an excellent place for people who love the nightlife. You may even spot a celeb or two as this is definitely one place the stars seem to flock! Here you can travel along A1A and see all the old Art-Deco hotels and buildings. The closer you are to the beach, the better Miami is.

Summer Holidays in Fort Lauderdale
In Fort Lauderdale, there are cruises that take you out to sea for gambling and dinner, as well as a variety of things to do and see. Like Miami, Fort Lauderdale also has great beaches. Because it is so local to Miami and West Palm Beach, it is easy to drive along the coast and see everything from West Palm to the Florida Keys. Many couples visiting this region prefer Fort Lauderdale to Miami however, as it is a bit less chaotic, but if you are looking for nightclubs and party atmospheres, Fort Lauderdale is not lacking. In terms of dining, some of the best restaurants are located in Fort Lauderdale and public transportation is a cinch.

Summer Holidays in Orlando
Orlando is also located in Florida and this is home to Disneyworld, Epcot Center, Universal Studios, and of course, several great water parks. If you are on holiday with the children, this is one US city you won’t want to miss visiting. Keep in mind that private accommodations located in Kissimmee are available and highly recommended. Kissimmee is located conveniently for Orlando and the theme parks, but lies away from the busy touristy atmosphere you will find in the city. It is definitely not advised to book a hotel or resort in this area, as the prices can prove sky high!
